NOT long after suffering an ACL injury, JM Calma was signed to a new two-year contract by NorthPort.
Calma was given a fresh deal over the weekend, about a month after undergoing surgery for the left knee injury he suffered in the Batang Pier's 95-88 loss to Barangay Ginebra last April 14 during the 2024 PBA Philippine Cup eliminations at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

The 6-foot-6 San Sebastian product was having a breakout season for NorthPort when he suffered the unfortunate incident.
At the time he got injured, Calma was averaging 8.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.2 assists as a starter for the Batang Pier, who tapped him as the No. 6 overall pick in the draft two years ago.
Calma is now undergoing rehabilitation and could be back for the surging squad late in Season 49.
Amores' redemption arc continues
Along with Calma, John Amores was also inked to a two-year extension by the franchise.
The former Jose Rizal University two-way guard was NorthPort's fifth round pick in the last rookie draft and was inked to a one-year pact.

Amores' contract was supposed to expire in October, but management already decided to restructure his deal owing to his hard work and dedication to improve as a player and as a person after his controversial exit from the Heavy Bombers and the NCAA.
He submitted numbers of 4.2 points and 1.2 rebounds in his rookie year.
Calma and Amores join Paul Zamar, Kris Rosales, and Ben Adamos among the players just renewed by Batang Pier management.
