JARED Dillinger regretted tearing his hamstring at the most inopportune time.

The big Fil-Am guard was forced to sit Game Three of the PBA Governors Cup semifinals series between Meralco and TNT Katropa after going down with a hamstring injury last week.

Dillinger, 32, showed up in street clothes on Saturday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum as he was reduced cheering from the bench in the Bolts’ 119-113 upset of the top seeded Texters for a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five series.

Coach Norman Black later disclosed in his post-game interview that Dillinger is out for the rest of the semis and could only return to play should the Bolts made it all the way to the finals.

The former Gilas stalwart though, is keeping his hopes against all hopes.

“May be I can rest a little bit longer,” said Dillinger following Meralco’s second straight win in the series, but adding the possibility of forcing himself to play should the showdown goes into a deciding Game Five.

“It kind of depends on how the series goes. TNT is a championship caliber team, so it’s gonna be a long series. So we’re not expecting we’re just gonna beat the crap out of them come the next game.”

Dillinger walks around with a limp, adding there’s pain on his right leg.

He’s not about to sulk in one corner though, as he’s doing everything to fast track the healing of the injured hamstring.

“Doctors are doing everything to heal it faster, and I’m doing everything I can to try and help speed the process,” said Dillinger.

He even tried to get the opinion of former TNT teammate Ryan Reyes about how to deal with the injury, having pulled his hamstring before a number of times.

“I talked to Ryan (Reyes) last night because he had a lot of injuries to his hamstring, so he gave me some good information,” Dillinger said.

“You can’t sit there and be sad about it. You just got to move forward and do what you can control, and that is to try and get better now. And that’s what I’m trying to do.”
