INJURED Meralco superstar Mark Cardona is raring to return to action, but has no clearance yet to play in the Bolts’ PBA Governors Cup game against crowd favorite Barangay Ginebra Saturday at the Astrodome.
Cardona suffered a strained right calf during the team’s tune-up game against Talk `N Text last August 2.
“Ok na ako eh. Maayos na pakiramdam ko ngayon,” said Cardona who underwent rigid therapy and strengthening workout the past three weeks.
“Kaso September 6 pa ako binigyan ng clearance ni Doc (Raul) Canlas, dun pa lang ako makakalaro ulit -- against Rain or Shine,” added the outspoken cager.
Averaging 14 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.85 assists per game, Cardona is a vital cog in Meralco’s campaign being one of the team’s most consistent performers.
In his absence, the Bolts split their first two assignments.
“Inip na inip na nga ako. Gustong-gusto ko na ulit maglaro,” stressed the former Dela Salle Green Archer.
“Kaso hindi ko pupuwede hindi sundin si doc. Mahirap itong injury na ito. Traydor ito. Bumabalik pag napabayaan,” Cardona said, while revealing he was also sidelined by a left calf muscle strain two seasons ago.
