LESTER Prosper will forever be grateful to the Terrafirma franchise for the opportunity to play in the PBA as an import.
Even though Prosper had a brief stop with San Miguel in the East Asia Super League, the naturalized Indonesian considers himself a true-blue Dyip player.
“I played with San Miguel in the Terrific 12. It’s not that I almost came back. I would never come back as a Beerman. I would play international tournaments with the Beermen but I would never come back as a Beerman,” said Prosper.
“I’m Terrafirma and that’s who I am for the rest of my career,” said Prosper.
Prosper is back in town for the Fiba Asia Cup qualifiers carrying the Indonesia colors as its naturalized player. In 2019, Prosper played for the then-Columbian Dyip in the Commissioner’s Cup as a replacement for Kyle Barone.
With Prosper as reinforcement, the Dyip placed 11th but came one victory shy of a playoff for the eighth and final spot in the quarterfinals.
After his stint with Columbian, the 32-year-old Prosper moved to Indonesia where he became a naturalized player for former Gilas Pilipinas coach Rajko Toroman.
Prosper and his teammates will take on Gilas on Friday at the Angeles University Foundation Gym, hoping to pull off an upset against the longtime powerhouse team in Southeast Asia.
Prosper said he enjoyed his stay with Columbian as a PBA import. That’s the exact mindset he has for Indonesia as the naturalized player.
“You just have to be able to come in and take your team to the next level. That’s a job of an import. You came in and take it to the next level. Hopefully, you can bring them to the playoffs. If not, bring them close and improve the whole wellness of the team and the whole attitude of the team. And that’s what I did with Terrafirma,” said Prosper.
“I’m looking to do that here also,” he added.
