LOOKING to perk up its outside shooting in the current PBA Philippine Cup, Mahindra is looking to tap the services of unrestricted free agent Jeric Teng.
The shooting guard out of University of Santo Tomas has already been practicing with the Floodbuster at their training facility at the Azure Urban Resort and Residences for the past two days, according to SPIN.ph sources.
He was actually set for a possible contract signing on Wednesday, but team manager Rep. Eric Pineda failed to make it to the team's scheduled practice.
"Mahindra still needs a shooter, that's why they invited Jeric to join them in practice and see how he blends with the team," said the source privy to the plans of the team.
Teng, 25, wasn't renewed by Rain or Shine prior to the new season after spending three years with the franchise that selected him in the second round (12th overall) of the 2013 PBA Rookie Draft.
The former University of Santo Tomas star did win a championship however, with the Elasto Painters as part of the unit that beat Alaska in last year's Commissioner's Cup finals.
One of two playing sons of forner PBA player Alvin Teng, Jeric will be the third free agent to be signed up by the winless Floodbuster (0-3) in a week's time after veteran Gary David and slam dunk king Rey Guevarra.
Mahindra lost its first three games by an average margin of 18 points. Its 114-104 setback at the hands of Phoenix last Sunday was the closest score in those three games.
