JONATHAN Grey is set to miss five to six months of action after tearing his right patellar tendon in a freak accident on Tuesday.
The in-form Grey averaged 9.5 points on a 45-percent shooting, on top of 3.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 3.1 steals in the six games he played in the 2019 PBA Commissioner's Cup which Batang Pier star Stanley Pringle sat out.
The third-year guard's layoff comes at a time when NorthPort is enjoying one of its finest starts to a tournament with a 5-1 card in the import-laden conference.
Still, a timely trade may cushion the blow for NorthPort.
The Batang Pier on Tuesday traded Pringle to Ginebra for Jervy Cruz, Kevin Ferrer, and Sol Mercado, who can be tapped to help rookie Robert Bolick in the playmaking department.
Another NorthPort guard, Nico Elorde, is also out four weeks due to a hamstring injury.
