JOEL Wright is open to the possibility of returning for another tour of duty with Star. Never mind if his initial foray in the PBA was rather a forgettable one.

The Hotshots import finished his Governors Cup campaign the way he started it, absorbing yet another loss with a 108-97 rout at the hands of Rain or Shine as Star wrapped up its stint in the season-ending tournament.

Wright led the way with 27 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists in an all-around effort that went for naught with the Hotshots absorbing their ninth loss as against only two wins in what would be their worst record in the James Yap era.

Despite the woeful experience, there was no regret for the NBA D-League veteran, who came in as replacement for former Best Import Marqus Blakely shortly after the All-Star break.

“I just went with what I could do. I’ve always microwaved a whole bunch, but I still managed to lend a hand and give it 110 percent every day, so I’m proud of myself,” said Wright.

He also made it known about his desire at another possible shot with Star.

“Hopefully, only God knows,” added Wright. “I would love to comeback, but I can’t force somebody’s hand. “They just got to do what they’ve got to do.”

Wright came on board with the Hotshots struggling with a 1-3 record midway in the conference. But his presence hardly turned things around for the franchise as it lost four straight games until the 27-year-old import stopped the bleeding when he buried the game-winning jumper in a 104-103 thriller against Meralco for his first win with the multi-titled franchise.

The 26-year-old product of University of Texas said it would have been better had he come earlier for the Hotshots.

“Got to know the guys earlier, got to bond with them earlier, but I’m happy with what I do,” said Wright.

In only his short stint with Star, he learned to appreciate the Hotshots even with all the losses around.

“I wish them nothing but love. I just wish them the best of luck either way, even if it’s with me or without me,” were his parting shots. “I can’t be more proud of how we fought.”
