JOEL Wright stressed the urgency for Star to keep its flat-lining postseason hopes alive in the PBA Governors’ Cup.
The Hotshots are now on the brink of elimination following a 106-93 loss to Phoenix on Friday night that marked their fifth straight loss, their longest losing streak in over a decade.
“We just need to have a little more sense of urgency, all of us, including myself,” Wright said after the loss. “We just got to know that our record is one and seven and we need to have some pride. That’s why I go out there and play hard, try to bring energy, try to do everything I possibly can.”
Despite putting up another decent game of 29 points, 11 boards, three assists, three steals, and one block against four turnovers before fouling out in 34 minutes of play, the Hotshots import has yet to lead his team to a win in four games since replacing Marqus Blakely.

Wright insisted he has yet to fully adjust to the league’s style of play.
“PBA’s just something I got to get used to, just playing out there with the fouling situation and everything like that,” the NBA D-League veteran said. “It’s my first time over here. Hopefully we can pick up one of these next three games.”
Asked what’s lacking with their performance, Wright curiously declined to answer directly.
“I got no comments on that,” he said. “We just got to keep playing hard and just try to pull out a win. That’s all.”
“All I can do is just go out and give my all and that’s what I’ve been doing since Day One,” he added. “I’m not mad at myself. I’m not mad at my team. We just got to keep playing hard and keep pushing through.”
Hotshots coach Jason Webb politely declined to grant an intervew once again.
