CEBU CITY - Barangay Ginebra ended its southern trip on a winning note, holding off hosts M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala-Cebu Ninos, 89-86, in the Sinulog Cup 2013 at the Cebu Coliseum.
Import Herbert Hill was clutch down the stretch as he scored the team's final eight points including the go-ahead basket and the insurance free throws with just seconds left in the contest. He finished with a game-high 25 points.
Both teams headed to the game without a win in the first two days of the competition, but Ginebra appeared headed for an easy win as they led by 12 points, 77-65 early in the fourth.
But the Ninos fought back and grabbed the upper hand, 86-85, off a spectacular shot-clock beating three-pointer by former University of Cebu star Brian Heruela with 41.9 seconds left.
The Kings then retaliated with an inside bucket by Hill with 32.9 ticks remaining. The Ninos had several chances to take the lead but missed several attempts, two by Ben Mbala.
Mbala led the Ninos with 18 while Heruela finished with 14.
