IF given the chance to stay longer and finish his stint in the ongoing Commissioner’s Cup, import Renaldo Balkman has vowed to repay Petron with a championship.
Speaking to Spin.ph a few minutes after meeting with Commissioner Chito Salud, a contrite Balkman declared that winning a championship for his teammates is now his primary goal.
“I know it will give me pressure saying this, but I want to win a championship for this team,” said the 6-6 forward, who was joined by the rest of the team at the PBA office in a show of support on Monday.
"I'm really motivated. I really want to make up, and I really want to bing this team to the championship."
At posting time, Salud was still meeting with his technical staff to decide the fate of Balkman.
Petron coach Olsen Racela said he and the coaching staff met on Saturday and have since submitted their recommendation to team owner Ramon S. Ang, who will hand down his own sanction on the beleaguered reinforcement.
Racela said the coaching staff and players have also agreed to allow Balkman to continue playing for the team.
“We want to give him a second chance, I think de serves it naman," said Racela. "What everybody saw of him last time, is not really him. Kahit kami nagulat talaga."
The Boosters did not hold any practice sessions over the weekend but Balkman decided to use the time to work out with assistant coach Biboy Ravanes, ironically one of the people he shoved and defied during his rampage on Friday night.
