IAN Sangalang’s injury proved to be a dampener for Magnolia in an 81-79 escape act against Meralco in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup on Friday night.
The lefty Hotshots star hurt his right wrist with less than two minutes gone by in the second quarter, never to return, raising fears that the injury is worse than initially anticipated.
“Feeling ko sumabit, ‘di ko alam kung kanino. May nag-pop sa loob. Parang may tumunog,” Sangalang revealed. “Tapos na-feel ko talaga na masakit. Tapos mga ilang segundo, di ko na maigalaw.”
“Meron may nagsabi na fracture daw pero ngayon ipapa-X-ray namin to confirm,” he added.
The 6-foot-7 slotman missed his only shot, grabbed one rebound, and committed one turnover in less than nine minutes of play off the bench.
“Di ko talaga mailaro. Masakit,” Sangalang, who sat out most of last season due to a knee injury, said. “Hopefully, sana nothing serious naman.”
“(Pero) ganun talaga. Hindi naman maiiwasan,” the former NCAA MVP out of San Sebastian said. “Basketball yan. Hopefully sana maging okay agad.”
