ANTIPOLO – Ian Sangalang said there will be no let-up when Magnolia faces Barangay Ginebra on Sunday in the PBA Governors’ Cup.

Before the Hotshots take on the Kings on Sunday, Sangalang made his presence felt on Friday when he tallied 28 points in Magnolia’s 116-103 win over TNT to clinch a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals.

Despite already clinching an incentive for the quarterfinals, Sangalang said he and the Hotshots will be going for the win against the Kings in a bid to go into the playoffs on a high note.

“Kapag Ginebra, pahirapan. Mate-test namin ‘yung character namin this Sunday kung hanggang saan kami,” said Sangalang, who will be going up against Ginebra’s twin towers of Greg Slaughter and Japeth Aguilar for the match on Sunday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

“Sa Sunday, kalaban namin Ginebra. Magandang game ‘yun. Halos pareho kami ng standing. Halos pareho kaing naglalaban sa 1 and 2 spot. Manila Clasico. Maganda lagi ‘yung game. Hopefully, manalo kami sa Sunday,” said Sangalang.

“Binigay namin ‘yung best namin. Kailangan namin makuha ‘yung panalo. Kapag natalo kami, malalagay kami sa pangit na sitwasyon. Hindi na kami magbe-base kung anong mangyayari sa ibang teams. Na-handle namin ‘yung trabaho namin. Gustong gusto talaga namin manalo today,” said the 26-year-old Sangalang.

After struggling in the Commissioner’s Cup, the 6-foot-7 Sangalang said the Hotshots are happy to finally book a higher seeding in the quarterfinals of the Governors’ Cup.

“Sobrang sarap sa pakiramdam. Lahat naman, from the start of the conference, ina-achieve mom una ‘yung goals mo na makapunta sa quarters. ‘Yung gusto namin marating, nakuha namin. Sobrang happy kami sa linaro ng team this conference,” said Sangalang.
