SCOTTIE Thompson has yet to process the latest PBA finals loss by Barangay Ginebra.

All he could think about is moving on quick as he looks forward to his next shot at a championship.

“Wala akong masabi. Can’t say any words,” said the Ginebra guard as he emerged from the team dugout moments after an 87-83 heartbreaker in overtime against TNT for the Commissioner’s Cup title.

“It hurts, but I think there’s more chances pa naman.”

But the Kings actually had their chances against the Tropang Giga in the deciding Game 7 of the finals Friday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Kings had momentum going for them early in the fourth after establishing a 70-64 lead on a layup by Stephen Holt.

The Tropang Giga though found a way to comeback, took the upper hand late in regulation, absorbed the effects of Justin Brownlee’s game-tying clutch three pointer that sent the game into overtime, before regrouping and getting its act back to claim the championship of one of the most epic Game 7s ever in PBA history.

Thompson finished with 13 points, nine rebounds, eight assists, and a steal in 50 minutes of play, emerging as a strong contender for the PBA Press Corps Finals MVP had Ginebra won.

Unfortunately, Thompson went silent offensively both in the fourth quarter and the extra period.

“Tough game, tough loss. But they deserved the championship,” said the former MVP as he gave credit to TNT beating Ginebra in the finals for the second time this season.

In a week’s time, the Philippine Cup will officially get underway, a campaign Thompson certainly looks forward if only to bury the sad memory of this Game 7 heartbreaker.

“Ganun na nga lang. Bawi na lang next time,” he said.
