IT’S already the playoffs, so injuries and aching bodies can wait a little while.
Scottie Thompson is taking aside the hamstring injury that has been bothering him since the start of the PBA Philippine Cup semifinals, what more now with Barangay Ginebra’s back against the wall against top seed San Miguel.
The former MVP is expected to continue playing through the pain in Game 6 of the best-of-seven series, as the Gin Kings try to steal one win and avoid an end to their season.

“I’m battling through it. Ganun talaga,” said Thompson when asked about his current health condition.

But obviously, the 31-year-old guard from Davao is hampered by his hurting hamstring, as shown in the last two games of the series which Ginebra both lost.
In Friday night’s 103-92 defeat, Thompson was a bit more active compared to the previous game, finishing with 14 points and nine rebounds. He shot just 5-of-14 though, and curiously, wound up without a single assist.
In Game 4, the guard out of Perpetual had 11 points, four assists, and finished with no rebounds at all in a 107-82 setback.
He was actually had a 4-of-6 field goal shooting, but was held scoreless in the entire second half by the Beermen.
NSD through and through
Thompson is one who won’t use it as an alibi.
“No excuses. Hindi excuse yun na hindi (ako) 100 percent para matalo kami. As long as ibinibigay mo yung 100 percent effort,” he said.
In the tradition of the Gin Kings never-say-die spirit, the former NCAA MVP said everything is not lost.
“Tough losses para sa amin,” admitted Thompson. “(But) series is not over yet.”
Game 6 is at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Sunday.
