THE man whose production TnT Katropa badly missed on Wednesday vows to be back when the Texters’ campaign is on the line.
Veteran big man Ranidel de Ocampo said he’ll definitely suit up in Game 3 on Friday when his team battles the Meralco Bolts for the fourth and last semifinal berth in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
The 35-year-old veteran showed up in uniform but did not see action in Game 2 of the quarterfinals series at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, which the Bolts won in overtime, 103-100.
De Ocampo admitted after the match that something is bothering him, but refused to disclose the extent of his injury.
“May nararamdaman ako…in love e,” he jokingly told reporters.
TNT coach Nash Racela also played it coy when asked about De Ocampo's injury, saying the longtime Texters spearhead only needed rest.
“He'll be okay. He needed rest,” Racela said.
De Ocampo, however, assured he will be suiting up for the fourth-seeded Texters in their do-or-die encounter against their sister team.
“Friday lalaro na ako,” he said.
A TnT Katropa insider disclosed to SPIN.ph that De Ocampo hyperextended his leg in TnT’s 102-84 win over Meralco in Monday’s opener of the best-of-three series.
“Na-stretch niya yung leg niya during the game,” the source said of De Ocampo, who went scoreless after a four-minute stint in Game 1.
But like De Ocampo, the insider guaranteed De Ocampo would be back for the team’s most important game this conference.
