THE holiday rush once again snagged Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao.
Christmas traffic prevented the ever outspoken coach from arriving on time for Game Two of the Elasto Painters’ PBA Philippine Cup semifinal series against the Alaska Aces on Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Guiao didn’t arrive at the playing arena until halftime, with the Elasto Painters holding on a commanding 55-36 lead.
“Traffic,” Guiao quipped to Spin.ph as he made his way to the Rain or Shine bench at the start of the second half.
Guiao came all the way from Pampanga and was caught in traffic while on his way to MoA. He left Pampanga a little past noon, or four hours before tip-off.
Top deputy Caloy Garcia called the shots for Rain or Shine the entire first half, when the Elasto Painters shot 45 percent from the floor (21-of-47), had more assists against the Aces, 15-8, and with less turnovers, 6-14.
Back-to-back three-pointers by Jonathan Uyloan and Gabe Norwood to end the first half gave the team its biggest lead of 19.
