ADDITIONAL protocols during games will be implemented when the PBA bubble is held in Clark next month such as the wearing of face mask of bench players and the discouragement of high fives.

Bases Conversion Development Authority president Vince Dizon said the PBA will be very strict in implementing the health protocols during the bubble in Clark, Pampanga.

Dizon admitted that the NBA is the standard of the PBA bubble, but he added other protocols are even stricter than what is being done at the Disney Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Florida.

“Benchmark natin ang ginawa ng NBA at leagues abroad pero meron tayong dinagdag na mas strikto,” said Dizon during a press conference organized by the BCDA and the Clark Development Corporation for national, local, and sports media.

Dizon, who is also the chief testing czar of the government, said that during games, facemasks will be required for all players on the bench. Players will also be discouraged from doing high-fives and fist bumps in the games.

‘Yung pagpupunas ng bola with your jersey, pinagbabawal din natin ‘yun. Other protocols na mas strikto sa nakikita natin sa NBA na puwedeng mag-comply ang mga players at staff,” said Dizon.

Dizon, however, made it clear that high-fives are not prohibited but only discouraged since players may do such acts due to the heat of the moment.

“Naiintindihan naman namin ‘yung nature ng game. Ang term naman is discouraged. It’s very difficult in the heat of the moment and the excitement of the moment.

PBA commissioner Willie Marcial seconded Dizon’s statements and added the league will try its best to implement the protocols regarding high-fives and fistbumps.

No penalties will be given if players violated the protocols regarding high-fives and fistbumps.

Wala namang penalties ‘yun. Nasa protocols ‘yun. Susundin natin,” said Marcial.

Marcial also reiterated the protocol on wearing masks.
