BIG man Poy Erram missed Blackwater's PBA Governors Cup game against NLEX Wednesday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum to due a severe case of flu.
The 6-foot-7 Erram had to be confined in a hospital as rashes appeared in his body, although he tested negative for dengue. He was rushed to the hospital a day before the game against the Road Warriors, which the Elite lost, 124-106.
"Mataas ang lagnat niya, but the good thing hindi naman dengue. It's unfortunate he had to be hospitalized on the eve of the game against NLEX," said a Blackwater staffer.
The Elite suffered their first loss in five outings without their best player manning the middle.
Deputy coach Pat Aquino later confirmed Erram's condtion.
"Nagpakita pa siya sa practice (nung Tuesday). Hinang-hina kaya pina-confine na siya sa hospital," said Aquino of Blackwater's star big man.
Good thing Erram will have more than a week's rest as the Elite's next game won't be until Oct. 5 against the Meralco Bolts.
"Yung ang assignment namin ngayon, to bounce back against Meralco," said head coach Bong Ramos. "We have to regroup."
