RAIN or Shine gets the benefit of having the services of not just one but two imports in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
Aside for fielding original choice Bruno Sundov, the Elasto Painters will likewise get a little help from former import Jamelle Cornley.
The well-built Cornley, adjudged as Best Import when the franchise won the season-ending Governors Cup, has volunteered to lend a hand as a practice player in preparing Rain or Shine for the coming import-laden conference.
“I just wanted to help my teammates and at the same time get this rustiness off my body”, said Cornley who is still recovering from an ACL injury.
Instead of having his rehab in the U.S, the 6-foot-7 Cornley opted to just stay and recuperate here in the country.
“I enjoy the people here. I love Pinoy’s passion for my sport,” beamed Cornley, the former Penn State stalwart who is currently dating actress Juliana Palermo.
Cornley’s support to his former team comes as a time when the Elasto Painters had finalized negotiations with Sundov, a Croatian.
Highlight videos of the former NBA center has already caught the attention of the rest of the PBA teams.
Agile for his height of 7-foot-3, Sundov can dribble, pass, and shoot from three-point territory.
The 32-year old veteran international player is also a team player, exactly what Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao wants for an import.
Sundov is scheduled to arrive on the second week of January in time for Rain or Shine’s return to practice.
“Nagustuhan talaga namin `yung laro niyang Sundov, sakto sa kailangan namin. May tira sa labas at role player-type,” said Rain or Shine team manager Boy Lapid.
