HEADS will roll after the sudden cancellation of Gilas Pilipinas' tune-up game against a team of NBA players, according to a source who refused to be named.
Sources said the two-day event dubbed 'PLDT Home: The Last Home Stand' was the sole undertaking of PLDT and several groups within the MVP organization with experience in organizing sports events of such magnitude were not consulted, or much less involved.
As a result, the event suffered several foul-ups leading up to its cancellation after the NBA threatened to suspend the players if they play in an "unsanctioned event."
Some of those officials now face the ax, a source added.
No one was more disappointed than PLDT head Manny V. Pangilinan, who had to issue an apology in a hastily organized press conference for the bizarre turn of events as fans fumed inside the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
