MIKE Harris on Wednesday posted numbers in Alaska’s win over Columbian that boosted his claim to the Best Import award in the PBA Governors Cup.
Harris had 44 points and 27 rebounds in Alaska’s 104-94 win, joining the likes of Kevin Murphy of San Miguel and Eugene Phelps of Phoenix as the imports who have scored 40 or more points this conference.
However, Harris, 35, said that at this stage of his career, he is more focused on the championship rather than individual honors.
“I’ve had quite a few of those in my career,” said Harris, who once was the NBA D-League MVP in 2010. “I told my coach when I got here that that isn’t my focus.”
Despite his prolific scoring, Harris said he makes an effort to be the best teammate he could possibly be.
“For me now, at this stage of my career, I want to win championships. For me, a championship is far more greater than getting a Best Import award," he said.
"Because ultimately, winning a championship, one person can't win a championship. And so, that's not been my focal point,” said Harris.
