YENG Guiao has no problem coaching Rain or Shine in the PBA while serving as vice-governor of Pampanga at the same time.

And he doesn’t find any problem either continuing his coaching job and holding a higher government position if and when he succeeds in his bid for a congressional seat in the coming 2013 elections.

“Sinabi na rin naman ni Atty. (Romulo) Makalintal, `yung election lawyer, na wala naman daw (legal hindrance), so tuloy lang pag-coach ko kung wala,” said Guiao, who is seeking a seat in the House of Representative in Pampanga’s first district in next year's national polls.

Guiao told Spin.ph that he already made his political plans known to Rain or Shine co-team owners Raymund Yu and Terry Que.

“Sinabi ko sa kanila (Que and Yu) na gusto ko pa mag-coach basta wala namang legal hindrance,” he stressed.

Guiao brought along his winning formula with Rain or Shine, which he steered to its first ever PBA championship last August with a stunning victory over San Mig Coffee in the Governors Cup Finals. The special feat made him the hands down choice as the PBA Press Corps’ Coach of the Year.

At the same time, Guiao finds his hands full in his capacity as Pampanga vice-governor, who’s currently serving his third and final term.

And the itch to serve his constituents doesn’t end there, according to him.

“It’s been a sacrifice for me to do two things at the same time. But I enjoyed serving my constituents in Pampanga and I also enjoy coaching.

“Taxing lang talaga because a lot of time had to be allotted dahil araw-araw after practice, I travel to Pampanga,” explained Guiao without a hint of complaint.

Despite his busy schedule, the coach and public servant said he makes sure he doesn’t compromise family time even though his kids are already grown-ups. His eldest is now a lawyer, while a son has already graduated from college, and his youngest daughter is currently studying at Assumption in Antipolo.

Even then, Guiao said he remains committed both to his job as Rain or Shine coach and public servant in the province of Pampanga.
