THE fighter that he is, Yeng Guiao remains defiant and optimistic about Rain or Shine’s chances of forging a sudden-death in its semifinals series against Barangay Ginebra.
While down 3-2 in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup playoffs, Guiao likes the Elasto Painters’ demeanor even after a 111-104 loss in Friday night’s contest at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
“Maganda yung vibes ng team. Usually, matalo ka ng ganito, down na down sila. Mararamdaman mo,” he said.
“But I did not feel that in this game.”

Despite the must-win situation scenario, Guiao pointed out that has been the Elasto Painters’ objective from the very start – stretch the series for as long as they can.
“All in all, we’re hoping for a long series. Now it’s a six-game series, and we might turn it into a seven-game series which is yung objective naming from the very beginning,” he said.
“This is still within our objective.”
Of course, the immediate goal is to win Game 6 first at the Ynares Center in Antipolo before Guiao talks about a winner-take-all.
“We still need to solve yung mga problems namin, mga defensive adjustments,” said the veteran coach as the team again allowed Ginebra to score in the 100s after already limiting them to just 85 points in a Game 4 win.
“But maganda pa rin yung vibes ng team kahit natalo kami,” Guiao added. “I feel they’re very positive about the Sunday game. You can feel na meron silang kumpiyansa na makakabalik sila. So to me that’s a good sign.”
