ON the day Barangay Ginebra returned to working out, big man Greg Slaughter was also back on the court.
Thousands of miles away, of course, from where the Kings are training at the Upper Deck gym in Ortigas.
The 7-foot Ginebra big man posted a video and photos of him practicing at the DME Sports Academy in Daytona, Florida with trainer Gary Boysonon on his Instagram account.
In the video, Slaughter wore the No. 10 USA jersey of the late NBA great Kobe Bryant, his way of honoring the legendary Los Angeles Laker who would have turned 42 on Monday (Tuesday, Manila time).
At the same time, Slaughter explained in the caption the other reason for wearing the Kobe playing uniform.
“I’ve worn this Kobe jersey every training session so I’d never take any day for granted,” said the 32-year-old big man.

“Honouring you on this day by putting in the work.”
He had the #mambamentality at the end of his message.
Seven months since he went to the US to take a break, there’s no clear word yet on when Slaughter will return to the country and rejoin Barangay Ginebra.
“We haven’t have much contact with Greg. I know he has spoken to LA (Tenorio) a couple of times, he has spoken to some of the players. (But) I really don t have an update on what he is doing or where his whereabouts are,” admitted Ginebra coach Tim Cone a few weeks ago.
“In terms of Greg, we’re kind of in limbo,” added Cone.
