GREG Slaughter sat Ginebra's game against TnT KaTropa in the PBA Governors’ Cup on Friday night due to a dislocated thumb.

Barangay Ginebra coach Tim Cone said Slaughter sustained the injury during practice on the eve of the TnT match and the timetable for his recovery is still unknown.

“We are still unsure how long Greg will be out,” said Cone. “He dislocated his thumb. We are hoping it’s a few days but we can’t really tell. We didn’t see any ligament damage in the MRI or any broken bones but there was a clear dislocation. You could see his finger was dangling when he got hit during practice.”

Cone though is already bracing for the worst as Slaughter’s stint with Gilas Pilipinas in the 30th Southeast Asian Games could also be jeopardy.

Gilas Pilipinas already had a first scratch when Jayson Castro suffered a leg injury during TNT’s game against NLEX a few weeks ago, forcing Cone to select Kiefer Ravena to complete the 15-man pool.

“We are hoping within a week, he can come back but you’ll never know. It could be longer. We had cases where those kind of thumb injuries can last a month or two. We will see. Hopefully, he will be available for the national team. I hate to lose another guy in the national team,” said Cone.
