New stretch big man? Greg Slaughter shows off sharper three-point shooting. WATCH

    Jun 27, 2017

WATCH out, there’s a new stretch big man in town.

    His name? Greg Slaughter.

After continuing his rehabilitation on his right knee at the Moro Lorenzo Sports Center on Tuesday afternoon, the Ginebra slotman went to the court following TNT’s practice and started to take – and surprisingly make – some shots from beyond the arc with the lights turned off.

Asked where the improved touch from three-point range came from, the 6-foot-11 cager played it down, saying he has always had outside range.

“I don’t know. I guess just reps and strengthening my body,” Slaughter said after his routine.

“I’ve always had touch,” insisted the 29-year-old big man, who’s always had a soft touch from afar but rarely takes shots beyond midrange. “But during this rehab, my coaches (have) been able to give me some pointers to get my shot better.”

Slaughter also bared former Gilas Pilipinas coach Tab Baldwin urged him to work on his three-point shooting when they were together in the national team.

“You know, coach Tab was actually encouraging me to do it while I was with him,” Slaughter admitted. “Something I keep in the back of my mind when I practice it because I think it could be a help on the international stage.”

TNT coach Nash Racela believes Slaughter can definitely be an asset to the national team.

“Pag nagka-shooting talaga yan, pwede na sa Gilas yan,” Racela said after witnessing Slaughter’s improved accuracy from afar.

That definitely makes Ginebra – and possibly the national team – scarier when he gets back.

    “No doubt,” Slaughter beamed.
