The Gin Kings reaped the rewards of the triangle offnese, as shown by another solid showing by the team’s twin towers Slaughter and Japeth Aguilar who scored 18 points each while gaining significant contribution from their guards.

But Slaughter stressed their defense was more noteworthy as they held the Bolts to a paltry 31 percent (24-of-78) shooting from the field.

“I don’t think we’re there yet, but I think we were more disciplined today (on executing the triangle), but I think we did a really good job on defense,” the Gin Kings’ star slotman said.

“You can’t always rely on your offense, but you can rely on your defense,” he added. “If you just don’t let the other team score, they can’t beat you.”

Nico Salva provided the biggest offensive spark, scoring 11 points, including two triples, in 17 minutes.

“That’s what we’ve been looking for,” Slaughter said. “We had people stepping up and hitting shots. I think we were very balanced today.”
