MAHINDRA will head to its big PBA Governors Cup battle against Rain or Shine on Friday without its leading local scorer.
KG Canaleta is expected to sit out the Enforcer's 7 p.m. encounter with the Elasto Painters after undergoing an appendectomy on Thursday.
Canaleta has since been put by Mahindra in the injury/reserve list and activated Raymund Aguilar in his place.
"Kaka-opera ko lang kaninang umaga," Canaleta related to SPIN.ph. "I'll be missing a few games siguro."
Canaleta is Mahindra's top local scorer in the season-ending meet, averaging 12.6 points and 3.6 rebounds in 25 minutes of play.
He is shooting 41.9 percent from three point region (18 of 43) and is one of those credited for the resurgence of the Enforcer as a playoffs-bound team.
Mahindra is currently tied at second place along with Barangay Ginebra and San Miguel, all with similar 6-2 cards.
Canaleta's absence comes at a time Rain or Shine parades a new reinforcement in balik import Jason Forte, who comes in as a replacement for Dior Lowhorn and the overheight Greg Smith.
The Elasto Painters are currently in the middle of the pack with a 3-4 record after losing their last two games against Ginebra and Globalport
