NO doubt, import LeDontae Henton has been a beast on offense, averaging 32.5 points for the Alaska Aces.
The high-scoring Aces import even kept rolling with 41 points in a 117-114 loss to Rain or Shine on Saturday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Problem is, his offensive repertoire has also not translated into victories so far in the PBA Governors' Cup. Yet he says he knows exactly what ails the Aces, and he's the first to point the finger on himself.
"I gotta do a better job of not getting early fouls and not turning the ball over. Just take care of the ball and play better defense without fouling," said Henton.
But Henton also pointed out a troublesome trend for his team, who suffered its third straight loss and fell to a 1-4 record: Alaska has been blowing double-digit leads in the fourth quarter of their games.
On Saturday, Alaska squandered a 10-point lead in early in the payoff period and eventually succumbed to the Elasto Painters.
"We just have to learn how to finish games," he said.
"We've been doing that lately, blowing double-digit leads. I think we need to stay focused mentally," he added.
Despite Alaska's struggles, Henton is staying positive the team will recover their defensive identity and killer mentality to revive their campaign.
"We just gotta go out there and play and figure out how to do that (close out games)," he said.
