GLOBALPORT started its South Korea stint on a winning note, rallying to beat Yonsei University, 71-70, on Monday in Seoul.

Top Fil-Am rookie guard Stanley Pringle dropped 23 points and issued 13 assists, playing splendidly alongside backcourt partner Terrence Romeo, who added 15 points. Offseason acquisition Mark Isip chipped in with 13 markers.

It was another hairline win for the Batang Pier, who scored a 79-78 victory on Sept. 10 against the Changwon LG Sakers, a five-time Korean Basketball League champion.

“Gandang come-from-behind, humabol lang kami pero magaling kasi ang point guard namin si Pringle. Ganda din ng kombinasyon nila ni Terrence,” GlobalPort assistant coach John Cardel told Spin.ph after the game

Yonsei University knocked down seven triples, but Cardel said it was no surprise and the Batang Pier were prepared.

“Yun naman ang heart-and-soul ng mga Koreans, yung three-point shooting. Magaling talaga sila dun sa labas," he added.

The Batang Pier, who won just a total of 14 games during their first two seasons in the pro league, play Yonsei University on Tuesday.
