ANTIPOLO – GlobalPort outdueled Blackwater, 139-126, to end its PBA Governors’ Cup campaign on a positive note on Wednesday at the Ynares Center.

The Batang Pier engaged the Elite in a high-scoring battle between eliminated teams before pulling away late to reset the league season-high in points.

Joseph Yeo flashed his vintage form, scattering 37 points, one shy of his career high, while import Mike Glover and Terrence Romeo added 34 and 28 markers, respectively, for the Batang Pier, who snapped a three-game skid to finish the season's final tournament with a 4-7 win-loss record.

The Batang Pier also added to the misery of the Elite, who were left stuck at the bottom with a ninth loss in 10 games.

“If you’re out of the running, it’s just about pride and effort,” Batang Pier assistant coach Cholo Villanueva said. “Whoever has the effort and pride in these kinds of games will eventually win.”

Clinging to a 111-109 lead halfway through the payoff period, the Batang Pier banked on a late run to emerge victorious in the shootout that saw both teams notch a franchise best in points.

Keala King bounced back from a dismal debut as the Elite’s replacement import registered 28 points, 15 boards, five assists, and one steal in 33 minutes, but still failed to lead his team in putting an end to a losing streak that stretched to eight games.
