Romeo keeps mum after superb shooting display wasted in another disappointing GlobalPort loss

    Apr 8, 2017

GLOBALPORT’s 118-113 loss to Blackwater on Saturday put to naught Terrence Romeo’s superb shooting display from beyond the arc.

The Batang Pier superstar knocked down a career-high nine triples that laid the foundation of his team-high 35 points on an efficient 13-of-18 shooting in 30 minutes off the bench.

The explosion allowed him to become only the third player in PBA history to hit at least eight triples in three games after Allan Caidic and Renren Ritualo, according to chief statistician Fidel Mangonon III.

Romeo, though, politely declined to grant an interview for the second straight game, understandably disappointed after his team remained winless after four outings.

GlobalPort coach Franz Pumaren welcomed Romeo’s explosion, but is still yearning for support from the other locals.

“Of course that helped us, but at the end of the day, we still lost the game,” Pumaren said. “Important is it should be a collective effort. It should be a team production in terms of not only points, but overall performance.”

At least, Pumaren believes the Batang Pier have found the right import in Malcolm White, who replaced Sean Williams.

“I think he fits the team,” Pumaren said of White. “In spite of him arriving yesterday, I think he really performed well. I think he’s only going to be better.”
