GLOBALPORT continued its offseason roster buildup on Tuesday, agreeing on a trade that will send hulking forward Jondan Salvador to Barako Bull for fellow big man Mark Isip, sources said.

Isip’s arrival is seen as a boost for a GlobalPort squad that is gearing toward becoming an up-tempo team that will be built around incoming sophomore guard Terrence Romeo and consensus top rookie pick Stanley Pringle.

“Oo, tuloy na yung trade, Jondan for Mark Isip. Inaayos lang yung team para makasabay sa takbuhan,” a source told Spin.ph, adding that documents for the deal were already sent to the PBA office for Commissioner Chito Salud’s approval.

The trade was the Batang Pier’s second transaction for the day, following the team’s decision to deal veteran big man Eric Menk in exchange for Alaska’s two second-round picks this month.

With Menk and Salvador out and Isip in, GlobalPort will now have a faster frontline led by Jay Washington and Yancy de Ocampo which can run with Romeo and Co.

Isip, an agile 6-5 player out of Far Eastern University, averaged 5.2 points and 2.9 rebounds for the Energy last season, appearing in 24 games, mostly off the bench.

On the other hand, Salvador’s arrival bolsters Barako Bull’s aging frontline that includes Dorian Pena and Mick Pennisi.

The burly Salvador will also be in his second tour of duty for Barako Bull, having played for the George Chua-owned franchise in the 2011-12 season.
