GLOBALPORT continued its scintillating performance in Korea, subduing the Seoul Samsung Thunder, 74-72 on Tuesday in a tuneup match.

Sophomore guard Terrence Romeo scattered 25 points, while veteran playmaker Alex Cabagnot returned from a two-week absence due to injury, adding 18 points as the Batang Pier scored their second victory in as many games.

The Batang Pier, who scored a 71-70 come-from-behind win over Yonsei University on Monday, are using their Seoul trip as part of their build up for the PBA’s 40th season. The pro league kicks off its 40th season on Oct. 19.

Fil-Am rookie guard Stanley Pringle chipped in 14 points and added eight rebounds.

“Dikit lang talaga ang laro. Malalaki rin kasi ang mga Koreano,” said GlobalPort assistant coach John Cardel after the game, whose team had to contend with former Korean national team forward Daniel Sandrin.

Even though the Thunder didn’t play an import, Cardel said the Korean pro ball club’s sheer size already posed as a huge challenge for the Batang Pier.

“Wala nga silang import pero malalaki talaga sila, saka naglaro din dun si Sandrin, pero na-control natin ang bola sa dulo,” he added.

GlobalPort expects to play three more Korean clubs before returning to Manila.
