DESPITE nearly becoming the first player to make a game-winning four-point shot, Glenn Robinson III admitted he is not exactly a fan of the PBA’s latest innovation for the 49th Season.
But the Magnolia import understands why the new rule was implemented as it is catered to the fans, and give the game a new look.
“I’m not a huge fan of it,” said Robinson. “I don’t [think] anybody really pays much attention to it.”

“But it’s a cool addition. We will play with it this year and see how it goes. I heard it was in the All-Star Game. Something new. Something exciting. You’ll never know if it will catch on or not. But I’m not huge on it.”
In the final seconds of the game and Magnolia trailing, 97-94, over Meralco, Robinson threw up a four-point shot to try and win the match outright for the Hotshots. But he missed the potential game-winner, with Allen Durham sealing the win for the Bolts.
“I knew we needed a three. And they added the four-point line so I figured, why not go for the kill? Why not try to get that four-pointer? Unfortunately, it didn’t go down. Sometimes, it’s life. But I felt like I had a good look at it. It just didn’t fall for us,” said Robinson.
Though he is not really sold on the four-point attempt, Robinson said it definitely makes every shot in the game, even the desperate ones at the end of the quarter, important.
“At the end of the half, sometimes, you see guys dribbling it out or don’t shoot it. But people get up a nice look, you have a chance for four points. But it’s cool for the fans, interesting for the fans," he said.

“But as a player, there’s not too many times that we actually think about taking the four points instead of a three."
Even if Magnolia ended up winning the game on his four-point shot, Robinson said there is still a lot to improve for the next game.
“Overall, I think we’ve got some things to clean up. But I’m proud of the team for battling back after being down eight with just a couple of minutes left,” said the former NBA player.
