AS if its coaching staff is not big enough, Converge has added Glenn Capacio to become part of its bench in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
The 61-year-old former PBA player is expected to join the FiberXers in their game against Titan Ultra on Wednesday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
Capacio will now be part of the FiberXers’ battery of deputy coaches that also include Franco Atienza, Willie Miller, Danny Ildefonso, Karl Santos, Humperdink Dimatulac, and Daniel Rose.
Head coach is Dennis ‘Delta’ Pineda, while former Smart Gilas Pilipinas head coach Rajko Toroman serves as consultant.
The younger brother of the late PBA player and Board Chairman Ely Capacio, Glenn brings along a wealth of coaching experience to the FiberXers.
His first head coaching foray came with his alma mater Far Eastern University, which he steered to the finals in the UAAP men's basketball Season 73.
Capacio later served as deputy coach with Letran and De La Salle under Aldin Ayo in a partnership that produced NCAA and UAAP championships.
He also won a championship as head coach of the AirAsia Philippine Patriots of team owner Mikee Romero during the 2010 season of the defunct Asean Basketball League.
When Romero took his act to the PBA, Capacio was appointed as interim coach of Globalport before slipping down as assistant to Junel Baculi.
Capacio likewise had a brief stint as deputy to KIA playing-coach Manny Pacquiao back in 2014.
Likewise, Converge has activated rookie big man Ladis Lepalam in lieu of Ronan Santos, who has been placed in the team's injured/reserved list.
