WE all saw the current Barangay Ginebra squad finish off Bay Area in an epic PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals.
Can an iconic Ginebra predecessor side do the same against the Hong Kong-based guest team?
A fan on SPIN Zoom In proposed a fantasy finals matchup featuring the 1990s team of Bal David, Vince Hizon, Noli Locsin, and Marlou Aquino, reinforced by current resident import Justin Brownlee against the current Dragons club.
1990s Ginebra vs Bay Area fantasy matchup
David was game enough to make a prediction on the dream matchup.
“Yung sa lineup namin, the way we play, talagang run-and-gun kami eh, pero pag napunta ka kay coach Tim, siguro mag-aadjust muna kami,” David said with a chuckle, referring to playing for current coach Tim Cone. “Si coach Tim, talagang finesse na finesse eh.”
“Maganda yang experience na yan kung magkakatotoo man yan. At syempre, laban tayo dyan,” he added.
David, who won the 1997 Commissioner’s Cup title with Aquino, Locsin, and Hizon, underlined their chemistry as an advantage in a fantasy series he feels would go the distance.
Then you have Brownlee, who is now 6-of-6 in the PBA Finals.
“Nagpa-practice naman tayo that time. Tsaka may Justin Brownlee eh,” David said.
With The Flash running the offense, it’s hard to choose who to dish out to.
“Kaliwa’t-kanan, sa low post: Noli, Marlou; sa wing mo: Justin and Vince, so kahit sinong ma-libre, talagang masarap pasahan lahat,” David beamed.
