BARANGAY Ginebra aims to get back to its winning ways on Wednesday when it goes up against NLEX in the PBA 47th Season Philippine Cup at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The Gins are coming off an 89-84 loss to Magnolia in their 6 p.m. encounter with the Road Warriors.
Ginebra coach Tim Cone took the blame for the loss even as he pointed to the team's lack of effort against Magnolia.
“We made it close. But we feel that it was a game that we shouldn’t have lost. And we lost it in the first three to five minutes. Didn’t come out prepared and ready to go,” Cone said.
“Ultimately, that’s a coaching thing. I told them that. If the other team played harder than we are, that’s on the coaches. That’s not on them. Chito coached his team much better than I did,” he added.
The loss sent Ginebra to a four-way tie with Meralco, Blackwater, and NLEX for second place with a 2-1 win-loss record.
Kevin Alas and the Road Warriors eye their third straight win.
The Road Warriors are looking to extend their two-game winning streak following their 90-89 victory over TNT last Thursday.
NLEX coach Yeng Guiao is looking for another win against a title contender in Barangay Ginebra.
“We are in pace with our objective. Ang objective namin is makapag-umpisa ng medyo maayos. ‘Yung dalawang last teams na kalaban namin contenders talaga ‘yun – San Miguel at TNT. Makapanalo ka ng isa sa dalawang ‘yun, malaking bagay na ‘yun. At least may puhunan kami kahit papano,” said Guiao.
In the first game, struggling teams Terrafirma and Converge face off at 3 p.m.
The Dyip remained winless in their third game after their 97-74 defeat against Phoenix Super LPG last Friday.
The FiberXers are also aiming to break a two-game losing skid after they lost to Meralco, 90-74, last Thursday.
