THE Barangay Ginebra San Miguel team will pay their final respect to the late father of teammate Kerby Raymundo on Friday by making the long trip from Manila to Bataan.
After the Kings’ Friday practice, a chartered bus will take the whole team to Raymundo’s hometown in Sta. Elena, Orion, Bataan where his father, Roberto, lies in state.
The elder Raymundo died on Wednesday of heart attack. He was 67.
"Nagulat nga ako kasi tumawag sa akin kahapon si coach Al (Chua), pupunta raw ang buong team,” said a surprised Raymundo.
"Sabi ko kay coach, sigurado kayo? Ang layo nito ah,” he added.
Chua said: "Walang pinipiling layo ang pakikiramay, isang paraan yun para mabawasan ng bigat ng loob ng nawalan ng mahal sa buhay gaya ni Kerby.”
Meanwhile, Kerby told Spin.ph that he intends to rejoin Ginebra’s practice on Monday, even though his father’s interment is not scheduled until the next day.
"Para hindi mawala kundisyon. Saka nakakahiya na rin dalawang araw na kong di nakakapag-practice,” Raymundo said.
