PLAYERS of both Barangay Ginebra and San Miguel were among those present in Day One of Gilas Pilipinas practice for the coming FIBA Asia Cup
With the exception of June Mar Fajardo, seven players from both the Kings and Beermen attended the get-together at the Upper Deck gymnasium in Ortigas almost 24 hours after engaging in a gruelling Game 6 of the PBA Philippine Cup finals which Ginebra won in a thriller, 88-87.

Among the Ginebra players who showed up were Scottie Thompson, Jamie Malonzo, Troy Rosario, RJ Abarrientos, and Japeth Aguilar, while CJ Perez was the lone Beermen around.
LA Tenorio was also around as part of the Gilas men’s coaching staff.
Fajardo didn't come as San Miguel management gave him the go-signal to rest his hurting calf, according to coach Tim Cone.

“We excused June Mar since he had some issues with his hamstring. I tried to get him and insist that he come. I was going to make him do some wind sprints, but coach Al [Gilas team manager Alfrancis Chua] said no," Cone joked.
“But my plan was for him to do some wind sprints in practice today,” Cone added smiling.
Completing the first day attendance were Chris Newsome of Meralco and overseas players Dwight Ramos and Carl Tamayo.
Ginebra and San Miguel will be playing in a sudden-death Game 7 on Wednesday for the right to meet TNT in the best-of-seven title series.
Cone initially planned to have another practice on Tuesday, but with an all-important game coming up, the team decided to just reset it for another day.
“We have one plan for tomorrow (Tuesday) but looking at Game 7 coming up, we decided we wouldn’t do it. We’ll call it off,” said the Gilas coach.
