BARANGAY Ginebra seeks to make ot to complete a sweep of its quarterfinals series but braces for a fightback from Rain or Shine in Game Two on Wednesday PBA Philippine Cup at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
The Gin Kings look to end the best-of-three series and make it three wins in a row against the Elasto Painters, including the triple-overtime encounter in the eliminations.
LA Tenorio, who paced the Ginebra attack in the series opener, says they can’t give the Painters an opportunity to force a decider.
“Mababalewala tong Game One namin kung ‘di namin tapusin on Game Two,” the Gin Kings star playmaker said.
“We don’t wanna give them another chance. Iba nilalaro ng Rain or Shine. They’re a different team right now. They have veterans, talagang matatalino yung mga players nila and they're playing good basketball.”
“Talagang we're going for the win,” he added ahead of their matchup that tips off at 4:30 p.m.
“Yun yung mindset namin going into the game: not giving them another chance.”
It’s definitely easier said than done.
“It’s not gonna be easy,” Tenorio said. “I'm sure they'll come out stronger and focused and desperate to win the game. We just have to be ready. We have to grind the win – one-point win, two points.”
“All we need is one-point nga eh for us to advance into the next level, next phase of the conference. Yun lang,” he added as he looks to follow up his Game One performance that saw him register a team-high 16 points, highlighted by four treys, along four boards, and three assists in almost 39 minutes.
