BARANGAY Ginebra goes for No. 1, Phoenix and Blackwater shoot for twice-to-beat advantages and TNT fights for life in Sunday’s all-important doubleheader at the close of the PBA Governors’ Cup eliminations at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
After Saturday’s games:
Here are the scenarios for Ginebra, Phoenix and Blackwater:
A win will give Ginebra the No. 1 seed but a loss, coupled with a Blackwater win over Phoenix in the first game, would push the Kings down to second seed. Magnolia will move up to No. 1 due to superior quotient, with Ginebra, Alaska, and Blackwater getting the No. 2, 3 and 4 seeds, respectively.
Victory by Blackwater will also hand the Elite the fourth seed and the twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals.
A win by Phoenix will give the Fuel Masters the second-seed in the playoffs and will assure Ginebra of the No. 1 spot regardless of the result of its match against TNT. Alaska takes the No. 3 seed, while Magnolia will drop to No. 4.
TNT is in a must-win situation following Meralco’s win over San Miguel last Saturday as the Bolts are now tied for seventh spot with NLEX at 5-6.
Here is the scenario for TNT.
A win by TNT will force a tie between NLEX and Meralco for the seventh spot. NLEX will secure No. 7 due to a superior quotient, with Meralco and TNT battling for the eighth and final spot in a knockout game.
A loss by TNT will eliminate the KaTropa from the quarterfinal picture. Meralco will take No. 7 while NLEX will slide to No. 8 due to the Bolts’ superior quotient.
