Ginebra shoots for No. 1, TNT fights for dear life in Governors Cup

    Nov 4, 2018
Bong Ravena and the Katropa hope to extend their season, while Tim Cone and the Kings look to secure the top spot in the playoffs.

BARANGAY Ginebra goes for No. 1, Phoenix and Blackwater shoot for twice-to-beat advantages and TNT fights for life in Sunday’s all-important doubleheader at the close of the PBA Governors’ Cup eliminations at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

The Kings seek the top-seed in the quarterfinals as they face the KaTropa at 6:45 p.m., while the Fuel Masters and the Elite battle at 4:30 p.m. for the last twice-to-beat advantage.

    After Saturday’s games:

    Ginebra 8-2
    Magnolia 8-3
    Alaska 8-3
    Phoenix 7-3
    Blackwater 7-3
    San Miguel 6-5
    NLEX 5-6
    Meralco 5-6
    TNT 4-6

Here are the scenarios for Ginebra, Phoenix and Blackwater:

A win will give Ginebra the No. 1 seed but a loss, coupled with a Blackwater win over Phoenix in the first game, would push the Kings down to second seed. Magnolia will move up to No. 1 due to superior quotient, with Ginebra, Alaska, and Blackwater getting the No. 2, 3 and 4 seeds, respectively.

Victory by Blackwater will also hand the Elite the fourth seed and the twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals.
