AS a tribute to former Ginebra playing-coach Robert 'Big J' Jaworski, Ginebra San Miguel, Inc. has launched the limited edition Ginebra San Miguel 'Jawo' bottle.
The special shrink-wrapped bottle was introduced fittingly enough during the Panagbenga Festival celebration in Baguio City, birthplace of the man dubbed the 'Living Legend' of Philippine basketball.
Jaworski, born to a Polish-American father and a Filipino mother, later moved from the City of Pines to Pandacan, Manila, where he grew up.
Jaworski had a remarkable career from the UAAP, the national team, and later in the PBA, where the former league MVP cemented his status by becoming one of the oldest active professional basketball players in the world.
Last year, the PBA officially retired his Ginebra No. 7 jersey in a grand ceremony befitting his status as one of the league’s all-time greats - and one of Philippine sports’ biggest stars.
Aside from the Jawo Bottle, two other limited-edition bottles have been released: the '180 Years' bottle, highlighting Ginebra’s colorful heritage, and the 'Lahing Ginebra' bottle, featuring its famous tag lines through the years.
