BARANGAY Ginebra coach Tim Cone believes his team is not prepared enough to give Gilas Pilipinas a proper tune-up for the Fiba Asia Championship.

Cone confirmed on Tuesday the Gin Kings' decision to decline an invitation to participate in the upcoming MVP Cup, where the team would have played games against Chinese-Taipei, Lebanon and Gilas - teams building up for the 2015 Fiba Asia Championship in China.

The invitation was relayed by former Gilas coach Chot Reyes, Cone added.

"We just haven't had enough practice," the multi-titled American mentor said. "We wouldn't be much competition for the teams at this point."

Talk 'N Text replaced Ginebra, which has been together for only two weeks, mastering the basics and intricacies of Cone's triangle offense.

"As I told Chot (Reyes), we're not ready for prime time yet," Cone said. "We've got a long ways to go."
