    Sep 25, 2017

KEVIN Ferrer suffered a slight fracture on his cheek following a bad fall he suffered during Barangay Ginebra’s final elimination game against TnT Katropa on Saturday in the PBA Governors Cup.

Team board of governor Alfrancis Chua confirmed the injury suffered by the rookie forward after undergoing thorough check-up at the Medical City during halftime of the game won by the Katropa, 121-92.

“May konting fracture lang, but OK naman siya,” said the Ginebra executive in a message to

The Gilas cadet pool member was sent home from the hospital also Saturday night after being given medical attention.

“Need lang niya mag rest,” added Chua, who’s also the sports director of the entire SMC group.

Marvin Espiritu, who represents Ferrer, another check-up will be made on the fractured cheek.

"Part of Kevin's face is still swollen, but he says he feels fine and recovering," said the young players' agent.

Chua, however, was mum on whether Ferrer could already suit up for the Kings in the quarterfinals, where the defending champions are on a collision with grand slam-seeking San Miguel Beermen.

The Kings finished the elimination as the no. 3 team and enjoy a twice-to-beat edge against the sixth seeded Beermen in the playoffs. The two teams meet on Wednesday, with the winner-take-all – if necessary – to be played on Friday.

Ferrer fell hard on the court faced-first after biting off a fake by big man Mo Tautuaa, whom he was trying to defend from scoring.

Initially, the Ginebra rookie refused to be brought to the hospital.

“But we have to convince him to go especially after he complained na iba na yung kagat niya sa labi. We can’t take a risk,” said Chua.
