MARK Caguioa has rejoined Barangay Ginebra's practice on Monday and it will be up to him if he'll make his comeback in Game Three of their PBA Commissioner's Cup semifinal series against Talk 'N Text on Wednesday.
Less than 24 hours after playing his first game in almost seven weeks as part of the PBA selection during the All-Star Game in Digos city, the reigning league MVP finally joined the rest of the Kings in practice at the Reyes gym in Mandaluyong.
The reigning league MVP went beyond his usual rehabilitation exercises for a sprained MCL on his left knee but did not take part in the Kings’ heavy drills.
But the mere sight of Caguioa joining practice is good news enough for Ginebra coach Alfrancis Chua.
“Syempre maganda para sa amin na makabalik na si Mark,” said Chua. "Having a healthy Mark Caguioa in the team is a plus factor for us. Okay na okay na sa amin yun.
“Malaking bagay yung presence niya eh. (Pati) 'yung inspirasyon at leadership niya sa team namin."
Caguioa's recuperation period has taken longer than anticipated because his doctors wanted to make sure that the MCL would be strong enough on his return to avoid a recurrence.
Asked if he will field Caguioa in Game Three against the Texters, Chua said: “Depende na sa kanya 'yun. Kung ready na siya and he wants to, then go."
