Ginebra makes most of three-week break by holding team-building session in Batangas

BARANGAY Ginebra has taken a step back in the hope of moving forward in its PBA Governors’ Cup defense as it has holed up in Batangas on Monday for a three-day team-building session.

In the middle of a long break in the season-ending conference, the defending champion Gin Kings are booked at Pico de Loro in Nasugbu until Wednesday to strengthen their bond, especially with do-it-all import Justin Brownlee.

“It’s really our first time to have this type of activity with Justin,” Gin Kings assistant coach Richard Del Rosario said in a text message on Monday. “We have not had a team building since he joined our team. The long break gave us the opportunity to do it now.”

The Gin Kings, who last played August 5 in a road win against NLEX – their third straight after starting the tournament with a loss, won’t return to action for almost another two weeks as they only take the court again on August 26, Saturday, against Alaska in another road game in Cebu.

Del Rosario said the Gin Kings are also holding practice sessions while they’re in Batangas.

“So it’s a mixture of business and pleasure,” coach Tim Cone’s top deputy said.
