BARANGAY Ginebra shoots for a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals on Saturday when it faces NLEX in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Ibalong Centrum for Recreation in Legazpi City, Albay.
The Gin Kings take on the Road Warriors at 6:30 p.m.
Both teams will have a lot to play for in the out-of-town contest.
Ginebra will clinch fourth and final twice-to-beat incentive with a victory over NLEX, although the final ranking will still be determined at the end of the eliminations.
NLEX, meanwhile, needs a win over Ginebra to strengthen its bid to clinch the eighth spot in the quarterfinals.
The Gin Kings are coming off a 103-93 win over NorthPort last Sunday to remain in contention for the quarterfinal incentive with a 4-6 win-loss record, tying NLEX
The Road Warriors are also fresh from a victory as they defeated Converge, 107-103, last Wednesday.
NLEX though will be playing with a depleted roster as Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser, Dave Marcelo, and Matt Nieto out due to injuries.
Road Warriors coach Frankie Lim hopes to get the same production from rookies Enoch Valdez, Richie Rodger, and Jhan Nermal, who combined for 45 points in the previous game.
“Everybody has to step up,” said Lim. “Matter of life and death. It’s either we go on in the next round or pahinga. I think everbody is expected to step up and play their A-game on Saturday.”
“There will be no excuses. I will not accept excuses,” said Lim.
If NLEX loses the game, the Road Warriors will hope for a TNT loss on Sunday against Phoenix Super LPG in order to arrange a playoff for No. 8.
