LESS than 48 hours after its dramatic comeback win over Star on Christmas Day, the celebration ends for Barangay Ginebra.

The fourth-seeded Kings tackle another immediate concern Sunday when they tangle with no. 5 team Globalport Batang Pier in a knockout game for a berth in the Smart Bro-PBA Philippine Cup semifinals.

Winner of the 5 p.m. encounter advance to the next stage where awaiting for them is no less than top seed Alaska Aces.

Ginebra coach Tim Cone admitted preparing against the Batang Pier, especially against the dynamic duo of Terrence Romeo and Stanley Pringle, would be hard for the Kings given the short time frame they had following their 92-89 overtime win over the Hotshots on Friday.

“We only have a day to prepare so its gonna be very difficult,” said Cone of the match up against Batang Pier.

Globalport is also coming off a rousing 94-85 win over eight-seed Barako Bull where Romeo exploded for 33 points, including 28 in the second half.

Romeo’s offensive exploits was not lost on Cone.

“Romeo just took over the game I understand in the second half (against Barako),” said the Ginebra coach. “Him and Pringle are two dynamic players we have to deal with.”

The Kings’ backcourt of Sol Mercado, LA Tenorio, and Scottie Thompson took care of business for the team against the Hotshots, leaving Ginebra’s Twin Towers of Greg Slaughter and Japeth Aguilar with fresh legs going to the game against the Batang Pier.

“Our bigs got a little bit of rest cause they didn’t get on the floor as normally as they are so hopefully those guys are a little bit fresh for Sunday,” said Cone.
