BARANGAY Ginebra goes for its third straight victory when it goes up against Rain or Shine on Saturday in the PBA Governors’ Cup at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
The Gin Kings are playing an important match against the Elastopainters in the Petron Saturday Special as they look to take a share of fourth place with Meralco (4-2) in the team standings.
Gametime is at 6:45 p.m.
Ginebra beat Magnolia, 105-83, last Sunday in a match that saw Justin Brownlee nearly post a triple-double when he had 27 points, nine rebounds and 10 assists.
The Kings look to avoid an upset against an Elastopainters squad chasing a quarterfinal berth, entering the match in joint ninth place with Blackwater at 2-5.
Rain or Shine recently paraded a new import in Kwame Alexander, who helped the Elastopainters in their 99-82 win over Blackwater last Wednesday by tallying 17 points and 16 rebounds.
Alexander is Rain or Shine's third import in the conference.
“That’s not new. I’ve done this before. I’ve had to come in with big expectations that I can bring energy and win games and be successful,” said Alexander.
“Just got to bring the same energy that we brought (against Blackwater), maybe even more, and try to bring another win to Rain or Shine. Continue to push through and be successful,” said Alexander.
Blackwater goes up against Alaska at 4:30 p.m.
The Elite have lost two in a row heading into the match against the Aces, who are at the bottom of the standings with a 1-6 record.
A win by the Aces will put them right in the fight for the quarterfinal berth after a 99-93 overtime loss to league leader TNT last week.
